Video2URL

Overview

Video2URL (available at https://video2url.com/) is a browser-based video sharing tool designed for quick, straightforward distribution. It allows users to upload local video files and immediately receive an unlisted viewing link to share with clients, colleagues, or friends.

Video2URL stores and serves files directly without transcoding. Because files remain in their original formats, browser playback depends on whether the recipient's browser supports the specific container and audio/video codecs used in the file.

Features

• Multiple Format Support: Upload files in MP4, MOV, MKV, or WebM formats directly from the browser interface.
• Direct Serving: Videos are hosted and served without background transcoding steps.
• Unlisted Links: Uploaded content produces an unlisted URL for direct access.
• Guest Uploads: Anyone can upload videos immediately with no account required, backed by 14-day retention.
• Link Management: Registered users have access to a dashboard to manage their generated links.
• Password Protection: Registered accounts can optionally secure links with password protection.
• Custom Expiration: The premium web uploader allows users to set custom expiration dates for shared links.

Use Cases

• Client Reviews: Share raw footage or quick edits using private links without requiring viewers to create accounts or download large attachments.
• Design & QA Handoffs: Distribute bug screen captures or UX walkthroughs directly via unlisted URLs.
• Temporary File Sharing: Send short-lived video demos with retention periods or custom expiration dates.

How It Works

1. Visit https://video2url.com/ in your browser.
2. Choose and upload your MP4, MOV, MKV, or WebM file.
3. Optionally set link protection options such as passwords or custom expiration if signed in or using the premium web uploader.
4. Copy the generated unlisted link and send it to your intended recipients.

Limits

• Transcoding: Video2URL does not transcode uploaded videos. Playback compatibility relies entirely on the recipient browser's native codec support.
• Retention: Guest uploads without an account are subject to a 14-day retention period.
• Access Control: Password protection requires an account, and custom expiration dates are supported via the premium web uploader.
