The Listening Museum is an interactive web experience that lets you explore the sounds of 36 mechanical keyboards spanning over 40 years. From the iconic IBM Model M (1985) to modern thocky customs, each keyboard is curated and sound-mapped. Click a card to expand details, then type on your real keyboard to hear the corresponding sound. The site includes filters by switch type (vintage, Topre, Cherry MX, clicky, custom linear, tactile, gaming, typewriter), a random picker, and a detailed stage panel showing keyboard specs, lore, and similar models. Audio samples are sourced from the open-source community (Mechvibes, Bucklespring, Freesound, etc.). The methodology section explains the limitations of sound tests and provides attribution. Built with a focus on education and appreciation of keyboard acoustics.
